Description
The W. E. McLellan blacksmith shop, was located on the west end of Main Street, about where Guidi's Diner is located today (2013). It was said in a 1906 news clipping, that "it is not only one of the most ancient buildings in Westbrook now in use, but has been used in blacksmithing since records were obtainable. It doubtless dates back to the Revolutionary War Period."
McLellan's father came to Westbrook from Portland about 1846, and purchased the building in 1858. The shop was still listed as late as the 1930 City Directory as W. E. McLellan, blacksmith.
