Description
This stock certificate was good for one share in the Saco and Biddeford Gas Light Company. This share was purchased for a dollar by Jarvis Williary on October 10, 1851. The verso shows that Williary later transferred the share to his nephew, Franklin Smith, in 1858.
The Saco and Biddeford Gas Light Company was incorporated in 1850 and operated under several iterations of the same name until the late 1960s.
