Description
This photograph shows Main Street looking west from Mechanic Street, as it appeared in 1880. The business seen on the left is C. M. Waterhouse Merchant Tailor, which was in business from 1880 to 1915.
In the 1885 city directory, Waterhouse advertized "Dress suits, Business suits and overcoats, made to order, at prices as low as first-class work can be produced. also a full line of wollens and trimmings for sale be the yard, at the best possible prices." The other businesses in the photograph, from second on the left to right, include Sach's Brothers Fine Cigars factory, MeLellan's Blacksmith shop, and Libby's Carriage shop.
