Description
George Chase wrote to Norman "Red" Wetherington about his experiences serving in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and in World War II.
He wrote, "Got $21 a month and it was a very educational part of my life."
Chase served in the CCC in Bar Harbor in 1937 and 1938. He is Native American and served General George Patton in World War II.
Weathering collected memories of CCC members in Maine, and coordinated CCC reunions. He is the author of "In the Public Interest: The Civilian Conservation Corps in Maine."
