Description
Three men and the Peavey experimental steam log hauler around the turn of the century.
The Peavey log hauler was created by Joseph Peavey, who also created the Peavey hook, in the 1850s. The Peavey hook was a long handled hook with a spike also on the end. Loggers would use the Peavey hook to stab a log and then roll the log into the hook portion of the tool, this gave the loggers better leverage and control in changing a log's position as it floated down river. Unlike the Peavey tool, the Peavey log hauler never developed past the experimental phase.
