Description
The patient library at Maine General Hospital was sponsored by the Junior League of Portland, collaborating with Maine General Hospital and the Portland Public Library to provide books for patients. Began in May 1928, by 1954, 7,511 books printed in several languages were read annually by Maine General Hospital patients.
Maine General Hospital is the predecessor of Maine Medical Center.
