Description

"Logs for the Weston & Brainard Sawmill and for Skowhegan Pulp Company were here picked out, allowing the other timber for down river mills to pass on. The discontinuance of these two concerns has caused the cessation of this work. Logs and pulp wood have not been detained at this point for many years, but the piers still stand.

For those unfamiliar with river driving, a "Boom" is a string of floating logs tied together by short lengths of chain. The purpose of a boom is to create a fence or barrier to hold floating logs in place or to keep them away from places where they could be prevented from moving downriver.
