Description
"These buildings stood on the westerly side of the back road to Waterville, sometimes known as the Tobey Hill route. They were about five miles from Skowhegan Village. Fire swept them to the ground several years since.
The Skowhegan-Fairfield town line, running at about right angles with this road, originally passed through the front door of the house at the left. Mr. Coffin was born in the front room at the southerly end of this house, which was then Fairfield territory. The line has since been changed to the south a few feet, so that the birthplace of this distinguished man in now in Skowhegan. Mr. Coffin became the moving spirit in the General Electric Company during the period of its most important development.
These buildings were at one time owned by James Lord, father of the present Thomas G. Lord, of Skowhegan.
