Description

"Old wooden toll bridge shows at right, with Fire Department building nearby. Small building between the structure is just mentioned and the Methodist Church is a horse shed. This was a necessary adjunct of every place of worship in ancient days. Families driving in from the country were provided with shelter for their steeds. While not built for the purpose, these sheds were a great convenience during the week, as anyone with a horse or a pair could shelter and feed them therein.

~Roland T. Patten, Custodian of Historical Views, 1929"
