Description
Kennebec River, Looking up the Gorge, under Old Railroad Bridge
"Note wood-burning engine, indicated by peculiar bell-shaped top, and small, light passenger cars, on trains just going out. Of the two spires in the distance that on the left is of the Congregational Church. This spire blew down in August, 1886. The right hand is the Methodist Church steeple. This was removed in June, 1927.
This wooden bridge was replaced by an iron structure about 1896 and this in turn by a heavier structure of iron in 1910."
