Description
This 1801 letter was written to Governor Caleb Strong from a French missionary named Romagne working with the Penobscot and Passamaquoddy Indians near Dennysville.
The missionary sought protection and a grant of land for the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point, where they traditionally hunted porpoises.
