Description
The four masted schooner General E.S. Greeley (at left) and the five masted schooner Magnus Magnusson (at right) were tied up at the Maine Ice Company's 400 foot long wharf in West Boothbay Harbor on a winter day in 1907 to load ice bound for points south when this photograph was made. The ice house, visible behind the Greeley's masts and left of that, provided winter employment for forty to fifty years beginning in 1880.
