Description
The "Four Franks" of the Bowdoin College crew team, clockwise from lower left are Frank Brown, Frank Davis, Frank Alexander and Frank Whittier.
Frank Whittier was captain of the four-man varsity crew team for Bowdoin College in his senior year. The team won at the intercollegiate regatta at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1885, defeating Cornell, the University of Pennsylvania and Brown University.
