Description
The Chase family, led by Ethan Allen Chase and his brothers Lewis and Martin, were among the first settlers to build their summer houses on Squirrel Island starting in 1871.
Other houses and additions followed, including the Chase House, a hotel constructed in 1889.
This stereoscopic view of Chase's Row dates from the 1880s prior to the addition of the Chase House at the far end of the row. The entire row was destroyed by fire in 1893.
