Description
Mr. & Mrs. Frank L. Dingley sit with their daughters and sons-in-law on the porch of their cottage, Dingley Dell, on Squirrel Island in around 1912.
From left are Anna Ladd Dingley (standing), Mrs. Jane Dingley Staples, Arthur Gray Staples and their daughter, Mary Gray Staples, Mrs. Florence Dingley Lord, Mrs. Lu Mary Greeley Dingley, Frank Lambert Dingley, and Hartley Little Lord.
The Dingleys were a prominent Auburn family and one of the first families to establish a summer colony on Squirrel Island.
This cottage, Dingley Dell, with its elaborate shinglework and whimsical turrets, was built in 1910.
