Sanford's First Baptist Church, designed by John Calvin Stevens, is in the background left.
The porch was enclosed after the 1890s.
Nowell & Libby was a general store that sold clothing for women and children, yard goods, shoes, groceries, sewing machines and, according to the store's ad in the 1893 Sanford Resident and Business Directory, "Anything Kept in a Well Stocked General Store."
