This portrait photograph shows famed opera singer Annie Louise Cary posed at an elaborately carved desk.
The printed text reads "Annie Louise Cary", but the name "Raymond" has been written in by hand below. Annie Louise Cary married Charles Monson Raymond in 1882, soon after her retirement from the stage.
Annie Louise Cary (1841-1921) was born in Wayne, Maine. The Cary Memorial Library was built in 1938 and named in her honor.
