Description
Famous opera and concert singer Annie Louise Cary (1841-1921) made her professional debut in 1868. After a career during which she sang throughout Europe and the United States, she retired from the professional stage in 1881. She married Charles Monson Raymond soon afterwards and continued to sing occasionally at charitable benefits and private events. This photograph shows her in later years.
Annie Louise Cary was born in Wayne, Maine. A library built in the town in 1938 was named the Cary Memorial Library in her honor.
