Description
This 1938 summer day brings many Holman descendants together for the annual Holman Family Reunion at Dixfield Common. Originating in 1901, the Holman Family decsendants met annually well into the 1990's at the Holman homestead to honor the founders of Dixfield, Col. Jonathan Holman and his sons and their descendants. Incorporated as Dixfield in 1803, the whole township was originally called Holmantown and this area of Dixfield is called Dixfield Common or Dixfield Center.
In 2013, the Holman Homestead is still standing, but in great disrepair, soon to be lost. At Dixfield's Bicentennial in 2003, a permanent marker was place at the Common designating Holmantown.
