Description
This is a postcard of the dam on the Webb River in Dixfield. During 1803-04 this upper dam was used for the gristmill and the sawmill. During the early 1900s there were many log sawmills along the banks of the river. Logs were run from Webb Lake in Weld down the river to the various sawmills. The lower dam was built around 1855 closer to the mouth of the river. Though not used, remnants of the dams remain in 2013.
