Description
This postcard shows a significant building in Dixfield. It was a hotel on Main Street built in the mid-1800s. The actual hotel was named Marble Hotel and better known as the National House in Dixfield. Tourists would stay in this hotel when they were in the area. Around 1900, the top floors were removed and was known as the Ione Harlow Building for many years, housing many businesses as well as Ione Harlow's Antique Shop. The structure was razed in 1950. In 2013 it is the site of Towle's Corner Store and Gas Station.
