Description
Alice Lucas Towle (1885-1963) was born and educated in Canton schools and is shown in her high school graduation dress. She then went on to graduate from Farmington Normal (Teachers's) College, taught in Byron, and then worked for the Rumford Falls Bank and Trust Company in Dixfield.
She and her husband, Charles H. Towle, operated Towle's Hardware Store in Dixfield from 1911 until the early 1950s. She was also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution.
The Dixfield Historical Society has this dress in its Vintage Clothing Collection.
