Description
Reverend Collamore Purington of Presque Isle served as the Chaplain of the 7th Regiment Infantry in the Civil War. Following the war, he returned to Presque Isle. Purington presided over the dedication ceremony of Presque Isle's Civil War Monument, known then as the "Soldier's Monument", on July 4, 1874 in Fairmount Cemetery.
