Description

Sidney Lanier Jr. (1870-1918) and his wife Elizabeth Maude Masson Lanier (1868-1961) wanted a place for children and adults to learn the "art of living."

The concept, based on ideas of poet Sidney Lanier (1842-1881) included activities centered on everyday chores, nature study, handcrafts, music, English folk dancing, and Bible drama.

The camp existed in Eliot from 1908 to 1940.
