Description
Kiah B. Sewall, a native of Edgecomb who was practicing law in Mobile, Alabama, wrote a brief autobiography, recounting the highlights of his education and working life.
A graduate of Bowdoin College in 1829, Sewall taught school and engaged in lumber land speculation, going bankrupt before he married Lucretia Day of Portland in 1836.
After a number of years of seeking legal and business opportunities, he became a lawyer in Mobile in 1839 and did well financially until the Civil War began in 1861.
