Description
Just behind the wagon in the foreground is an elephant with a man riding on its back. Note the many little boys following the procession. The buildings, from left to right, are the Brown Block built in 1896 (home of Hooz's for many years), the First Baptist Church, Nowell & Libby (now Shaw's Hardware), and the Prescott Emery store. The steeple of the Congregational Church can be seen above the roof of Nowell & Libby's store. -- Sanford and Springvale, Maine, A Backward Glance, by Harland H. Eastman, June 1988, p. 37. Print from a 4" x 6" glass negative.
