Description
The view of the harbor and commercial district of Belfast was taken from Primrose Hill on High Street and shows downtown as it looked several years after the catastrophic fire on October 12, 1865.
That fire swept along the lower portion of downtown, destroying 125 buildings in a 20-acre section. In the years following the fire, the rebuilding of the downtown and waterfront was well underway.
