Description
A winter view shows two men walking by the Wadsworth-Longfellow House at 487 Congress St. in Portland in about 1900.
The house, the childhood home of the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, was built by his grandfather Peleg Wadsworth in 1785-1786.
R. Cutler Libby, an amateur photographer who worked in the insurance business, took the photograph. Libby (1861-1934) lived on Congress Street in Munjoy Hlll and often took photographs of homes and other buildings in Portland and South Portland.
