Description
Peleg Wadsworth (1748-1829) wrote this letter to his wife, Elizabeth Bartlett Wadsworth, on Aug. 13, 1779 near Castine on the Penobscot River about the Penobscot Expedition, an effort of American forces to remove the British, who were building a fort at Castine to protect a planned loyalist community there and to control coastal trading.
