Description
Nathaniel B. Coleman of Portland enlisted in Co. S of the Maine 17th Infantry on Aug. 15, 1862 as a hospital steward.
Coleman was promoted to full assistant surgeon on Nov. 22, 1863. He served until the end of the war.
