Description
A large crowd is gathered in Monument Square in Portland in May 1889 at the laying of the cornerstone for the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, also known as Our Lady of Victories.
The Grand Army of the Republic Bosworth Post No. 2 sponsored the monument.
The statue was designed by Franklin Simmons.
