Description
John Sheahan of Dennysville received a letter in March 1865 about his son, Lt. John P. Sheahan of the 31st Maine Infantry, saying that he had escaped from a Confederate Prison at Charlotte, N.C. and should be through Confederate lines and home in several weeks.
Daniel White wrote from Bangor, "I have know doubt but he will come out all right." White was a Colonel in Co. A of the 31st Maine Infantry.
