Description
Built by Captain I.E. Archibald in Rockland by the Cobb-Butler yard in 1903, the Monhegan became the flagship of his expanding steamboat business. In 1906, at the height of his success, Archibald sold his business to the Eastern Steamship Company, which was swiftly gaining control of the many steamship lines between New York and the Canadian Provinces.
