The four recipes presented here are part of a larger series of ration recipes issued by the US Food Administration and the Food Conservation Committee. State and local Food Conservation Committees organized at the start of the American World War I war effort in April 1917. The committees later fell under the US Food Administration once it was formed by the federal government in August of the same year.
