Retired sales associate V.W. Libby started raising fancy
chicken breeds in South Portland, including this prize
Silver Laced Wyandotte, after seeing the birds on his
work trips to western Canada.
A "Portland Press Herald" article reported a Swedish
entrepreneur purchased some of Libby’s poultry to
improve his chicken populations, saying, “Yes sir, South Portland’s chickens are scratching Swedish soil today.”
