Description
Tintype portrait of George Allen Soule (1838-1865), son of Jesse and Lois Soule of North Yarmouth and Yarmouth. Soule served in several Maine Civil War regiments, including the 1st ME, Co.E; 10th ME, Co.C; DC Cavalry, Co.M; and the 1st ME Cavalry, Co.D.
He died in March 1865, and was buried in Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C. His place and cause of death are unknown, although he most likely died a prisoner.
The tintype shares its case with a portrait of William Allen Love.
