Description
Portland Press Herald photographers captured the iconic statue of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow situated in Longfellow Square with plants arranged to spell out "Poet Longfellow." Formerly known as State Street Square, this corner was renamed Longfellow Square at the dedication of this bronze and granite monument in 1888, six years after the poet’s passing.
