Description
A tintype portrait depicts Ellen Jane Small (1841-1931), the daughter of George and Eleanor Small of Raymond. Ellen had at least one brother, Herman Daniel Small. Born into a family of farmers, she became a schoolteacher and donated a schoolhouse to the town of Raymond in 1908. Later in life, she joined the Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU). She died in Gray on October 9, 1931.
