Description

Cowboy and silent movie actor visited Portland on June 11, 1937, to present two circus shows with the "Tom Mix Circus." He owned and operated the circus from 1935-38.

This image may be from one of those circus shows, as his attire matches what he wore on June 11, 1937. He is pictured here with two young boys and his performance steed, "Warrior." One of the boys sports a helmet similar to the ones worn at the Gannett Publishing Company soapbox derby. Mix attended the derby in 1936 and 1937.
