Description

Hadley Fairfield of Houlton (1840-1895) served as a Corporal in the 7th Maine Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. He was wounded on April 19th, 1862, and found in “hopeless” condition in a New York hospital by the New England Relief Association. By 1867, he moved to Houlton and was elected Register of Deeds for Southern Districts of Aroostook County, a role he continued until at least 1882. He died on August 18th, 1895, and was buried in Houlton.
