Description

One of four photographs of John Brooks "Jack" Howard (1875-1971) taken to illustrate a brochure advertising his illustrated talk "The Call of Outdoors."

Jack Howard was a Boston family man, businessman, sportsman, and photographer whose passion was exploring the "big woods" of Maine. He made innumerable trips to Maine to hunt, fish, and photograph between 1900 and 1940. His legacy includes hundreds of photographic negatives on 4x5 and 5x7 inch glass plates and various sizes of celluloid film, as well as nearly 200 lantern slides.
