Four men on a long boat off Eagle Island, ca. 1960

Contributed by Maine Seacoast Mission

Description

Four men row a longboat off the coast of Eagle Island. Eagle Island, an unincorporated area in Maine, lies in Penobscot Bay between North Haven and Deer Isle. In 1844, Samuel Quinn purchased the island from John C. Gray, and it has since remained largely in the hands of his descendants.

Maine Seacoast Mission has been a trusted friend along the Maine coast since 1905. Rooted in a history of compassionate service and mutual trust, the Mission seeks to strengthen coastal and island communities by educating youth, supporting families, and promoting good health.
