Description
Frank E. Bracey Jr. (1931-1945), pictured with his wife and daughter, served as the last civilian keeper of Eagle Island Light before the US Coast Guard took over its operation in 1945. In 1959, the Coast Guard automated the light, replacing the Fresnel lens with a 300mm lens and powering an electric light with batteries connected to a diesel generator.
Maine Seacoast Mission has been a trusted friend along the Maine coast since 1905. Rooted in a history of compassionate service and mutual trust, the Mission seeks to strengthen coastal and island communities by educating youth, supporting families, and promoting good health.
