Lisbon Street, Lewiston, ca. 1930

Description

Lisbon Street was one of Lewiston's main business thoroughfares in the first half of the twentieth century. It featured many shops and businesses operated by Franco-Americans, including F. X. Marcotte Furniture. For a time, as the rails in this postcard indicate, the downtown area was served by a streetcar system. The card offers a southward view of Lisbon Street from the intersection with Main Street. The A. Schulte cigar shop and the Savings Bank appear in the foreground.

The approximate date given here is based on the vehicles in the image. There is no postmark that would help date it more closely.
