Description
Milton Charles Bennett of Oakland copyrighted his song "Dear old Maine I'm coming back" in 1923.
The lyrics include the lines, "...there's one state so true and grand, That I am going back again; And you can have the whole blamed land, For just one spot in dear old Maine."
Bennett also wrote at least two songs for the Ku Klux Klan, including "The Klansmen's Rally Song" in 1924 and "It's Your Land and My Land" co-created with Maine Ku Klux Klan King Kleagle F. Eugene Farnsworth in 1923.
The final line of the chorus is, "And if God is good, I'm coming back, To my boyhood home, on the Kennebec."
