My Vietnam service detailed in Life Magazine

A story by Henry B. Severance III from 1963-1967

French photojournalist Catherine Leroy (1945-2006) in Vietnam, who documented the Vietnam War for Life Magazine and other publications.

My name is Henry B. Severance III, I was in the Marines for 4 yrs. 3 mos. and was raised and lived in Gorham, Maine until I went into the service at age 17. I was honorably discharged as a Cpl. E-4. I served from Sept 1963 to Dec 1967. I have 24 operations in my record book for operations against the NVA and guerrilla forces where I was also wounded in combat. I operated in the I corps area of South Vietnam. Most of our operations took place in and around this area.

Thanks to a very brave war photographer named Catherine Leroy, these pictures are in print. The story is in the Life Magazine issue of May 19, 1967. It details when our company spent 20 days up in the hills of 881 & 861 pushing back what was a division of NVA back across the border to North Vietnam.

SEMPER FI MARINES & GOD BLESS THOSE WHO DIDN'T MAKE IT FROM THAT HELL HOLE
