Getting ready to fry the potato donuts
One of my favorite childhood memories is, while spending the summer with my grandparents in rural Hodgdon, Maine, walking down to Simpson’s Garage corner first thing in the morning and getting a fresh potato donut (yes, you can make donuts out of potatoes!! And, they are delicious!). Since the donut was right out of the fryer, it was hot and crispy. Just thinking of it makes my mouth water and my eyes a little misty.
