Steve Smith was the Technology Coordinator in Waterville from 1997-2007. In this conversation, Steve remembered a meeting where Governor Angus King floated the idea of Maine Learning Technologies Initiative (MLTI ) with some Maine K-12 Tech Directors and reflects on the role of technology departments in supporting K-12 schools' purposeful and effective use of technology.
He describes the importance of preparing a school or district's technology infrastructure as a way of assuring the ability of that institution to take advantage of technology-based innovations.
