Make it Great Again

A month before the Covid lockdown, I painted this mixed media piece of art with such a heavy heart. Understanding how fragmented we are, and knowing what was coming, I decided to put my meditation on canvas. I had recently watched videos of Koala bears burning, Native Americans begging to resume the rights to their land as the government forced them to accept pipelines, and had just read that there are breeds of the rhinoceros that are becoming extinct right after reading our waters are becoming more polluted.
While all of these atrocities are happening, Big Pharma is getting rich off a virus that has divided our world even further. Big Pharma perpetuates fear, enlists people to propagate their narrative to sell their “medicines” (that are clearly not preventing the spread of anything, including addiction) and they reap the profits. It is Big Pharma that has perpetuated a narrative which has created more conspiracies, more division, and less choice about what someone wants for themselves.
One would think with over 80 billion of profits Big Pharma could help solve some of the world issues that are plaguing society. Instead, we have the system of mass incarceration, disenfranchised people, single mothers that are struggling to feed their children, and kids that are going hungry in several countries. Some people go without food and others don’t even have clean water. People walk five miles both ways to have water. WTF? How much good could you do with a billion dollars? Instead, it is about more profit and more money while they create more fear and more division.
