Description
Children were fed lunch at the Portland Day Nursery, a well-known charitable institution with a playground, playrooms, and sleeping quarters. The Portland Baby Hygiene and Child Welfare Association raised funds to expand and support the nursery.
A full-page article about the nursery ran in the April 18, 1923 Portland Evening Express, although this picture was not used in the article. According to the article, care was supervised by a nurse, Mrs. Marion Chaumont, and her staff.
